In its chapter on Sleep-Wake Disorders, the DSM-5 lists TEN 10 disorders or disorder groups (American Psychiatric Association, 2013):
1. Insomnia disorder
2. Hypersomnolence disorder
3. Narcolepsy
4. Breathing-related sleep disorders
– Obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea
– Central sleep apnea
– Sleep-related hypoventilation
5. Circadian rhythm sleep-wake disorders
6. Non–rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep arousal disorders
7. Nightmare disorder
8. Rapid eye movement (REM) sleep behavior disorder
9. Restless legs syndrome
10. Substance/medication-induced sleep disorder.
Then, there are a set of diagnoses called “Other specified” or “Unspecified”:
1. Other specified insomnia disorder
2. Unspecified insomnia disorder
3. Other specified hypersomnolence disorder
4. Unspecified hypersomnolence disorder
5. Other specified sleep-wake disorder
6. Unspecified sleep-wake disorder
