JAMA. this month had interesting article on AUD. They used WHO Criteria to study risk reduction and medication. Can you comment on any differences in the criteria and also on the issue of harm reduction versus abstention strategies? Thanks

What is best clinical evidence to provide patients requesting medical approval for plasma donation ? I have been denying these requests. First d/t protein bound drugs that will be disrupted and second, the donation centers ask for excessive details pertaining to the patients mental health information: diagnosis, treatments, all medications, safety profile. The forms are long and cumbersome.

What do you recommend to patients with occasional migraines (head or gut) that are prescribed sumatriptan for intermittent use, while on an SSRI or SNRI? I have a patient prescribed an injectable 0.5 mg subcutaneous for cyclic vomiting syndrome, while on 75 mg BID of Effexor ER.She has been told Risks/Benefits and Alternatives and has been told about the signs and symptoms of serotonin syndrome. The question is, how do you know how much serotonin is too much serotonin before your patient is in trouble?
