Omega-3-acid ethyl esters (US brand name Lovaza ®) are lipid regulating agents consisting of combination of ethyl esters of omega 3 fatty acids, principally EPA and DHA. Here is more information about this medication.
FDA-approved indications:
Adjunct to diet to reduce triglyceride (TG) levels in adult patients with severe (≥500 mg/dL) hypertriglyceridemia (HTG)
Dosage
Either 4 grams (4 capsules) orally once daily or
2 grams (2 capsules) orally twice daily
Patients should be advised to swallow Lovaza capsules whole. Do not break open, crush, dissolve , or chew capsules.
