In my experience, mental health clinicians who work with adults need to learn a lot more about autism spectrum disorders. Certainly, I was taught very little about them during my training. We must not miss this diagnosis or wrongly diagnose these patients as having a “personality disorder.”
Asperger’s syndrome
One form of autism spectrum disorder is what was previously called Asperger’s syndrome in which there are problems with nonverbal communication and with empathy, but language and cognitive skills are intact.

Imitation Game. The movie is not about Asperger’s syndrome at all, but Alan Turing clearly had the syndrome. Several characteristics of Asperger’s syndrome are prominently shown in the movie. Leaving aside Asperger’s, the movie is excellent anyway.
