A systematic approach to risk factors for QT prolongation

In another article on this website, we noted that “The risk of a rare side effect is greater in those with risk factors for that side effect.” So, we need to know and/or be able to look up the risk factors for each rare but serious side effect of the medications we prescribe.

Accordingly, on this page, we’ll provide a systematic way to review the risk factors for QT prolongation in a particular patient. Clinicians can refer to this list when evaluating the overall risk in a particular patient.
