Not all trauma is associated with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

We have a huge problem in mental health that our terminology is often taken literally to mean what it means in English. For example, someone who is thinking constantly about some issue may be said to be “obsessed” and misdiagnosed as having obsessive-compulsive disorder. Or, a patient may say that they had a “panic attack”…
