Some antidepressants can reduce the activation of important “prodrugs”

Question from a Member: I have a patient with depression (doing well on her current medications) who is going to be started on tamoxifen. The patient is currently on bupropion XL, fluoxetine, and quetiapine. My plan was to let the fluoxetine taper off and start venlafaxine XR to minimize inhibition of tamoxifen metabolism (and efficacy)….
