Which tricyclic antidepressant we recommend depends on several factors. Relative potency at inhibiting norepinephrine versus serotonin reuptake The tertiary amine TCAs (imipramine, amitriptyline, doxepin, clomipramine, trimipramine) are more potent at blocking serotonin reuptake than norepinephrine reuptake.
