What to do if fish oil supplements cause nausea, burping, or a fishy aftertaste

I was prompted to write this article because one of my patients told me that she had stopped taking the fish oil that I had recommended because it persistently gave her nausea, and she had even vomited a few times. Colleagues who recommend fish oil supplements to their patients know that it is not uncommon for patients to complain about nausea, burping, or a fishy aftertaste from fish oil supplements.

In this article, we’ll look at several very specific things that we can recommend to our patients if these side effects occur with fish oil supplements.
