How many days to wait before measuring the blood level of any medication

Why do we wait for a few days before measuring medication blood levels? As you know, we wait for a few days before checking serum/plasma levels of any medication, for example, lithium, valproic acid, carbamazepine, and oxcarbazepine. This is because the serum level of a medication takes a few days to reach a “steady state”….
