Mixed salts of a single-entity amphetamine product (Mydayis®): Basic information

“Mixed salts of a single-entity amphetamine product” (US brand name Mydayis®) is a triple-bead preparation of mixed amphetamine salts. It is a central nervous system stimulant. Here is basic information about this medication.


FDA-approved indications

Treatment of Attention-Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in patients 13 years and older.


Dosage and Administration

Mydayis® should be taken orally, once daily, in the morning.

Adults

Starting: 12.5 mg daily

Titration: 12.5 mg weekly

Maximum: 50 mg daily

Pediatric (age 13-17)

Starting: 12.5 mg daily

Titration: 12.5 mg weekly

Maximum: 25 mg daily


Special cases

Renal impairment (adults)

Severe renal impairment (GFR 15 to <30mL/min/1.73 m2): Maximum dose is 25 mg daily

End-stage renal disease (GFR < 15 mL/min/1.73 m2): Not recommended

Renal impairment (age 13-17)

Severe renal impairment (GFR 15 to <30mL/min/1.73 m2): Maximum dose is 12.5 mg daily

End-stage renal disease (GFR < 15 mL/min/1.73 m2): Not recommended


Administration Instructions

May be administered orally with or without food

Swallow the capsules whole, or open the capsule and sprinkle the entire contents over a spoonful of applesauce. The sprinkled applesauce should be consumed immediately; it should not be stored. Patients should take the sprinkled applesauce in its entirety without chewing.

The dose of a single capsule should not be divided.


Dosage forms and strengths

Extended-release capsules: 12.5 mg, 25 mg, 37.5 mg, and 50 mg
