Neuroleptic malignant syndrome or NMS is a very serious side effect of antipsychotic medications.
Clinical features
The classic four features of NMS are:
– Generalized muscular rigidity and tremors
– Hyperthermia
– Impairment of consciousness
– Autonomic instability
Laboratory findings may include elevated creatine kinase (CK), increased WBC count, myoglobinuria, etc.
