Dextromethorphan-bupropion: Any new data on dissociative effects or abuse potential?

Have any new serious or non-serious side effects been identified as possibly being related to the dextromethorphan-bupropion combination, since it was approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2022 for the treatment of major depressive disorder in adults?

In particular, since dextromethorphan abuse is well-known to occur, I would like to know whether dextromethorphan-bupropion was found to be associated with abuse potential OR perceptual/dissociative effects, which are found with dextromethorphan abuse.

For more on these issues, please see the following articles on this website:

A primer on dextromethorphan abuse or dependence

In another article on this website, we noted that when any new medication is introduced, we usually have only limited data about its safety and tolerability. What we know at that time is based on short-term studies and longer-term (about one year) data from a limited number of patients. Once the medication has been on the market for some time, as more patients take it and for longer periods, we should look out for new information about its side effects.

For more on this, please see the following article on this website:

Watch for more side effect data after a medication is marketed and widely used
